Exploring Contemplative Prayer and Practices || Mondays, 7:00–8:30pm, Nov. 18, Nov. 25, Dec. 2, Dec. 9 || In his book Meditations of the Heart, Howard Thurman suggests that:

“The streets of our minds seethe with endless traffic; our spirits resound with clashings, with noisy silences, while something deep within hungers and thirsts for the still moment and the resting lull …. As we listen, floating up through all of the jangling echoes of our turbulence, there is a sound of another kind — A deeper note which only the stillness of the heart makes clear … How good it is to center down!”

There are many ways to center down – to pause, listen and connect with God who beckons us to Come, Seek and Abide. This Fall, we invite you to explore some of the many contemplative ways to deepen your attentiveness and prayerfulness, such as centering prayer, praying with images, scripture, poetry and music, contemplative journalling, breath prayers and more. Over four Monday evenings, beginning November 18th, facilitators from TPC will discuss and invite participants to try out two of these practices each week. Each session will be presented simultaneously in-person and online to link our on-site and virtual campuses together. Dates: Nov 18, Nov 25, Dec 2 and Dec 9, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

Facilitators: Dotsie Bregel, Ginny Barnhart, Patricia Jackson, Bob Smith and Joel Strom. Registration is recommended.
