Childcare

Towson Presbyterian provides a safe and nurturing environment for each child, birth through high school.  Cribbery care for infants  and toddlers is provided during all education events and most worship services.  Volunteer church members assist our Childcare Coordinator, who is on site each Sunday morning for the 10:00 a.m. service and who will register your child and answer any questions you may have.  Childcare is provided in Noah's Nursery for infants and young todders  and Room 101 on the lower level is the classroom for two and three year olds.  The goal of TPC's Childcare is to make our children feel safe, nurtured, and cared for from the time they are infants into adulthood. All of TPC staff and church school teachers sign a Child Protection Covenant. Click here for a sample provided by the Baltimore Presbytery.

Please look for signs to direct you to the proper rooms. Parents of children in Noah's Nursery are given a pager for use during the worship service.   Our two and three year-olds use a printed curriculum that includes a craft, participate in free play, and experience a classroom music component each Sunday morning.

Age 4, Kindergarten and Grade 1

Godly Play is a new way of Christian education that involves Biblical storytelling and art expression for young children. Godly Play encourages children to enter into the story using "wondering" questions.  Each class session uses a pattern similar to a worship service.  Children participate in a story circle, experience a feast (snack), and receive a blessing.  Godly Play is held in Room 201 and 203.

Elementary, Grades 2-5

Our Christian Education program is as engaging, challenging, and nurturing as possible.  We use Seasons of the Spirit curriculum, published by Logos, Inc.  It is a lectionary-based curriculum dedicated to challenging children, using all of the multiple intelligences.  Our church school is designed to use a printed curriculum (Seasons of the Spirit) for two months, and then we use the Rotation Model of instruction for one month.  In this way, two exciting methods of learning.  A variety of activities are planned in four workshop rotations each year so the children study a story in a different medium each week.  Children in Grades 2 through 5 experience programs in specially designed classrooms that promote experiential learning.  Recently renovated rooms include a media/game room, a drama room, and an art room to make learning fun.
